the last 50 years
Created as a self-promotion 50th anniversary piece for one of the world's largest engineering and architecture consultancies in the world, the 16-page, hand-assembled book celebrates Dar's design history and growth, decade by decade.
Each spread is designed to reflect the style of its decade and interacts with the reader through innovative uses in paper/printing (postcards, pull-outs, throw-outs) The book was gifted to clients & dignitaries at a 1,000-gala celebration and accompanied give-aways of the autobiography by the firm’s founder and then-Chairman.
Rather than overwhelming the reader with project images and text- from fertilizer and power plants in the 1960s to buildings and roads in the 1980s as one would expect a typical corporate brochure to do - a different route was taken. In collaboration with an external design agency, the end product reflects the company’s personality and spirit as it grew from a 4 person Lebanese firm to a global corporation, making this a truly personalized give-away by one of the largest firms of its kind in the world. The last spread of the book features a CD-ROM with a self-running presentation, which was generated by a bespoke, dynamic flash-based application.
